MIAMI NIGHT STARS

  • Miami Beach Bandshell 7275 Collins Avenue Miami Beach, FL, 33141 United States (map)

Peter London Global Dance Company presents  MIAMI NIGHT STARS, a thrilling and heated performance at Miami Beach Bandshell on Sunday, May 18, at 7:00 pm. This electrifying program is undeniably Miami Beach's most terrific and sizzling dance offering by Miami's iconic contemporary dance company that celebrates Miami's rich multi-cultural dance and music heritage and virtuosic multi-ethnic dance artists. The fire and duende-filled performance includes London's incomparable CARMEN, unapologetic in its voluptuous and jealously laced competition for love and supremacy at any cost, choreographed utilizing American contemporary dance technique with a hint of the essence of Flamenco. ANCESTRAL KING AND QUEENS encapsulates the Yoruba oral traditional story of the Orisha King Shango and two of his wives Queen Oba and Queen Oya as they vie to win his favors in a dynamic and theatrical fusion of contemporary and Afro-diaspora dance drama, accompanied by an original score from Kebra-Seyoun Charles made possible with grants from the Keith and Renata Ward Family Fund at the Miami Foundation, the Steven. R. Gerber Family Trust and the Sphinx Organization. This spectacular program overflowing with duende and fiery explosions of passion and electric fervor includes Justin Rapaport's brilliant athletically frenzied contemporary Jazz feast AWAKENING, with a commissioned score by GRAMMY NOMINEE pianist and composer Martin Bejerano. The program comes to a boiling point with an audience favorite of London's KAISO BACCHANAL full of the spiritual power of the West African ancestors celebrated in Caribbean Carnival festivals.
